HOSPITALITY AWARDS
Leicester City has reaffirmed its position as one of the leading venues for hospitality nationwide with a hat-trick of awards.
Following the club's recent Coca-Cola League One title win on the pitch, off field activities have seen the club sweep the board at the Football Hospitality Awards.
Last night, at Chelsea Football Club's Stamford Bridge Stadium, City picked up the impressive accolades of Gold in both the Director's Choice in Coca-Cola League One, as voted for by visiting club directors and the prestigious Conference and Events Marketing Award, as judged by BDRC marketing quality literature content and mystery shopper-style telephone calls.
A special achievement award was also bestowed upon Head of Sales for FMC at Leicester City, Lisette Maas. Lisette's award was in recognition of her continued excellence, enthusiasm and contribution to events such as International Confex, earning her a silver award in the Special Achievement Category.
Mike Konig, General Manager for FMC at Leicester City, said: "Lisette has shown the utmost dedication and commitment in her role at the club and is seen as a shining example of a self-motivated leader. Her outstanding people skills and forward-thinking approach to the daily challenges we face, makes for a positive and proactive work environment and Lisette and her team thoroughly deserves their awards."
With an impressive hat-trick of awards on the evening, Leicester City's conference and events department will be striving to maintain their current high levels of customer service next season.
WALKERS STARS AT TOURISM AWARDS
The Walkers Stadium has won Bronze in the 'Meet England' Category at the 2008 East Midlands Tourism Enjoy England Excellence Awards.
The awards are organised by East Midlands Tourism, cover all areas of the visitor economy and are open to businesses across the East Midlands. They are designed to recognise excellence and reward those businesses that go the extra mile in providing a first class experience to visitors.
Mike Konig, General Manager for FMC at Leicester City, said: "Our whole team is delighted to have received the bronze award.The award just demonstrates how committed we are to delivering a warm welcome, great facilities and highlights the high levels of service we provide to our customers."
Ruth Hyde, Tourism Director of East Midlands Development Agency added: "This year we saw a 25 per cent increase in applications making the competition tougher than ever so congratulations to everyone. They should be proud of their achievements as they have shown they are prepared to go that extra mile to ensure visitors have an exceptional experience. Businesses need to listen to their visitors and be ready to adapt to changing demands."
Over 300 people gathered for the celebrations at East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham.

Walkers Stadium celebrates reaching regional final of tourism awards
Conference & Banqueting at the Walkers Stadium are celebrating making it through to the final of the 2008 Enjoy England Excellence Awards, organised by East Midlands Tourism. As a finalist for the "Meet England, Tourism" award the venue competed with others from Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland.
Mike Konig General Manager says "Being shortlisted is a great achievement as it shows how committed we are to delivering a warm welcome, great facilities and highlights the high levels of service we provide to our customers".
This year's prestigious awards dinner will be hosted by TV presenter Dominic Littlewood and is being held at the East Midlands Conference Centre on Wednesday 8th October. A total of 16 categories will be announced spanning all areas of the industry's growing tourist economy. East Midlands Tourism aim to identifying businesses that have really gone the extra mile to exceed visitor expectations and have the potential to drive tourism forward in the East Midlands.
If successful, winners from the regional awards will have the opportunity to go forward to the national final next spring where they will compete against winners from other regions to be crowned 'England's Best'.
